Matthew Keiser
My work is
inspired by my desire to have things. I can have anything that I want and all I
have to do is paint it. Objects, Situations and Landscapes that I can not own
are the things that I paint. It would be impractical to have and keep a
cityscape or Mythical being for myself... therefore I "Paint To Own".
My process is simplistic. My canvases start as sketches that get blackened in
like comic books using heavy black lines. Using acrylic paints and a scrubbing
painting style I fill them in with color and highlights to form images that are
as close to popping out of the painting as I can get.
Many of the images in my paintings have ties to literature or music and there
are reasons that I chose these subjects, but I try not to tip my hat too
obviously. The fun comes in hearing the interpretations of the work by those who
view it. None are wrong... but often some are "kooky".
I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I do.
