Medium: Hydrocal Size: 10 1/2" Price: $65.00 Honore Balzac was the forerunner of the novel. In a sense, so was Beelzebub. My version mocks Rodin's famous pose of the French novelist by combining two tragic, heroic figures. My pagan Catholic version of the devil is based on John Milton's Beelzebub from "Paradise Lost." Thrown bodily from Heaven, he awakens in the gloom of Hell unrepentant, raises a symbolic arm, and in a wonderfully written soliloquy, throws figs to an angry God. |
