"The Timmel Collections" August (First Saturday of the Month) show with be new paintings by renowned international artist Charles Dix. Opening August 5, there will be an artist reception from 5 - 8 PM in "The Gallery Sculpture Garden." Charles, whose paintings will be featured for the entire month of August has exhibited during a long career in numerous juried art shows and competitions including the recent "A Call To The Arts" at The Corcoran Museum of Art in Middletown, Virginia. Exhibited works were done in Charles unique technique of bronze, acrylic, and oil. "A Call To The Arts" is in celebration of the Lord Fairfax Community College Anniversary and the new alliance with the Corcoran Museum of Art and College of Art and Design. The Juror for this exhibition was Paul Brewer, Director of College Exhibitions for the Corcoran College of Art and Design. He writes extensively for arts/cultural publications such as The Washington Review and Articulate Magazine.

Charles also recently won a National Competition sponsored by the national magazine Art Calender, the business magazine for visual artists. His painting "Night Bridge," a 40" by 30" acrylic, was reproduced on the June 2000 issue cover. Dix also had a painting accepted in The National Exhibition Inland Exhibition of The San Bernadino County Museum in San Bernadine, California. The exhibit ran the months of May and June, 2000. The painting is a bronze, acrylic and oil. The Juror for this exhibition was Zoltan Szabo, author on numerous art books including Painting Rocks Mountains, and Trees in Watercolor.
